Echelon Class

Designing both the Echelon and Sagan classes began in the early 2390s at the San Francisco Fleet Yards, aligning with Starfleet's trend towards the aesthetics of the 2290s. Originally envisioned as a single class with two and four-nacelled units, the project evolved to prioritize the four-nacelled design for the Echelon. This choice transformed it into a long-range explorer and a testbed for Borg-inspired systems. Production on the Echelon class commenced in 2394, with the first vessels entering service by 2397. In the early 25th century, the Echelon-class, still relatively new, has become a recognizable part of the Federation fleet across its space.
