Primary Characters
When a player joins SB516, you will be asked to create a Primary Character and character profile. This is the character you will be playing as your Primary/principal character and the character you will be referred to as in game play and in OOC (Out of Character) discussions. As your Primary Character, no one else has any authority in how this character is played or developed except you. You may switch your Primary Character at any time to a new PC with the prior authorization of your assigned Command Team.
PC2: Once you have proven you can facilitate and meet all simming requirements, you can (if so desired) request the ability to have a Secondary PC on another vessel. If approved, all rules that your PC are subject to will fall on the PC2 including simming requirements and timing for each ship your PC’s serve aboard.
If game play requirements are not being met by you, the player, the Grey Council can review your PC’s and determine if a PC2 needs to be removed until game play requirements are back to the required levels.
Player Non-Primary Character’s (PNPC’s)
Each player has the option to create and play a PNPC to help facilitate the storyline they are part of. Players PNPC’s can only be played by that specific player and may not be used in a storyline without the prior authorization of the player for that PNPC.
Mission Specific Non-Primary Character’s (MSNPC’s)
During the course of a mission a player may be asked to play a mission specific character. This is a character not associated with the normal parameters of the PNPC and is generally not part of the ship's crew or regular complement. A MSNPC is generally played during a specific mission and then retired after that mission has been completed. These characters should not be interchanged with PNPC’s as they are not principle characters in an ongoing storyline.
Guide to establishing a PNPC or MSNPC
To establish a PNCP the following should be met by the player:
An established player should have permission from their Command team to create a PNPC. This is to ensure that the player and command team are in agreement that the player has met and can continue to meet player weekly goals without the PNPC becoming a factor in meeting said goals.
A PNCP can be of any rank up to but not exceeding the earned rank of the player within the club. I.E., a player who has earned the club rank of Lieutenant can play any rank below and up to a Lieutenant as a PNPC. A player may not create a PNPC above their earned club rank.
Promotions of a PNPC are to be requested by the player and approved by the players command team prior to a promotion being granted. A promotion of a PNPC cannot exceed the actual club rank of the player.
A PNPC cannot be a species from the forbidden list. All PNPC’s must meet the same criteria as a full playable character within the club.
To establish a MSNPC the following should be met by the Command team and the creator of the MSNPC:
The player outlining the mission, prior to its start should identify the need for the number of MSNPC’s and define the idea behind how these characters should be played. I.E., “I will need two aliens played as MSNPC’s. They are traders by nature and are slightly less evolved than our current Starfleet Characters. Physical appearance I will leave up to the players.”
Any abilities beyond what we would consider as normal should be approved by the command team prior to being introduced in the game play. I.E.: “I want to make this species have the ability to control time.” The command team needs to review and approve or deny the request.
Extras
An Extra is a character created by anyone on the ship and added to the ships “Extras List” that can be played in the background by anyone on the ship. An Extra may not be played at the same time by multiple players, this is to prevent confusion and to allow a player to use that character to complete their portion of a storyline.
When creating an Extra, the character's rank can not exceed the rank of the player creating the extra. Example. If a Lieutenant is creating an Extra for play in Engineering, the Extras rank can be any rank up to but not exceeding a Lieutenant.
An Extra should be added to the ship’s Extras’s list prior to use and depending on the ships Command Team, may need to be approved prior to use.
An Extra is for use on your ship and is not a PNPC or a MSNPC and therefore falls in the classification of a Federation citizen or Starfleet crew. Extra’s may not be from the exempt or excluded species lists.
