Abandoned at birth - exact date and place unknown. First memories were of scavenging scraps in the streets.  Learned to fend for himself but helped fellow orphans as able. Gained reputation for being a tough fighter when he or companions are threatened. Often found himself defending the young and helpless. Has no compunction about hunting down those that prey on the weak.  When he attracted the attention of the local crime boss, he decided to get off planet. He stowed away on a passing cargo ship. He was discovered by the Captain but treated well.  The Captain, who was a human called TeonK, befriended him, and told him he would keep him on as crew, helping him scavenge and trade. Eventually the ship made it to Earth. There, TeonK spoke with a Starfleet friend who arranged to have him tested.  Turned out he was very bright and capable.  He was then asked to join Starfleet as the first Gorn in history. He accepted reluctantly. He had a hard time fitting in but gradually made friends.
