Growing up on Ferenginar I was sold into servitude and was not given the opportunity to thrive. I was treated no better than a female and decided to join Starfleet Academy when i came of age to escape the mediocrity. There they are at least supposed to treat everyone equal no matter where you come from (sometimes I feel personally attacked for who/what I am by the older and younger cadets/officers). I do tend to fall back on my roots from time to time and look for wealth/profit opportunity which can lead me to be admonished by my superiors, but it can be overlooked because of my fierce attention to detail and outside the box thinking in uncommon situations.

My family disowned me when I joined Starfleet. Outside of the occasional distant relatives who sends me communications hoping to gain inside information on Starfleet, I don't talk to any of them.
